Acho Gets Lawsuit Dismissed

A former reserve officer in a metropolitan Detroit community and his wife filed a ten-count Complaint in Federal Court, alleging numerous civil and constitutional violations stemming from an arrest of the officer in 2007 on a possible Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) violation. The reserve officer was released and never charged. He claimed in the suit that his arrest prevented him from working in law enforcement.

CMDA attorneys Ron and Jim Acho represented the former police chief, township supervisor and four police officers. The case was recently dismissed by a United States District Court Judge. The Judge accepted a dismissal while the township’s Motion to Dismiss was pending.

Jim Acho explains, "We are pleased with the result and pleased to vindicate six men who were wrongfully accused of violating the reserve officer’s civil and constitutional rights. Their records will all remain untarnished."
