Summary of Experience
Robert L. Blamer joined the Firm as a law clerk in 1979. His first office at CMDA was the size of what most people would consider to be a very small closet. Through determination and hard work, in 1988 Bob was one of the first non-founders of the Firm to be made a partner. In 1993 he became an equity partner at the Firm. Bob is the first member of the Firm to obtain an AV rating by his peers, which is the highest rating available for both legal ability and ethics.
Bob is the head of the Plaintiff’s Personal Injury practice area and focuses his practice on helping injured people in many types of negligence actions, workers’ compensation claims and social security disability claims. While a majority of the Firm’s work concentrates on the defense side of the law, we realized long ago that a plaintiff group was necessary to make the Firm the full-service one that it is today. Bob has handled, tried and resolved cases with tremendous success not only in Michigan, but throughout the country. His trial experience ranges from representing automobile negligence victims to complex professional negligence matters, products liability actions and complicated plane crash matters.
Vicki DeVitis, who has been working with Bob as his secretary for 32 years, explains, “Bob is very considerate in all ways and treats his clients with kindness and respect. He works hard to obtain the best outcome possible on all his clients’ cases.” One of the most rewarding aspects of Bob’s career is that, because of the close relationship he strives to have with his clients, many of them become his friends.
Bob received a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. He is a member of the State of Michigan-Character & Fitness Committee, Livonia Bar Association (past president) and Michigan Association for Justice.
Additionally, he is on the advisory board for Community Opportunity Center, which is a non-profit housing corporation that provides housing and care for developmentally disabled persons. Bob is active in the Higgins Lake Property Owners Association as a volunteer diver, is a volunteer legal advisor and past Commodore to the Higgins Lake Boat Club and a volunteer legal advisor for Prosperity Investment Syndicate. He is past president and Board Member of the Livonia Bar Association and has served on several other Boards as an officers and advisor. He is a member of the Michigan Bar Association Committe on Character and Fitness.
Bob resides with his wife of 36 years, Carrie, in Whitmore Lake, MI. They have two adult children, Danielle (Mike) and Kevin (Kelly) and one beautiful granddaughter, Avery. Bob enjoys boating, scuba diving, golfing, basketball, following University of Michigan sports and military history.
Bob can be reached at (734) 261-2400 or rblamer@cmda-law.com.

John Doe, M.D. v. John Doe Manufacturing Co. In this New York case, Mr. Blamer sued and obtained a sizeable settlement against a manufacturer for his client when exercise equipment malfunctioned causing the victim, a medical doctor, to severely injure his back resulting in multiple surgeries.
Jane Doe v. John Doe Premises Owner: In this Wayne County case, the jury awarded what is believed to be the largest verdict of its time in a premises liability award for a fall on ice in the employer’s parking lot. Over 15 doctors testified in the case regarding causation and treatment for a condition that was not diagnosed until 2 years after the fall.
Estate of Jane Doe v John Doe Bar, et. al. In this Dram Shop/Liquor Liability Trial, the jury awarded a very sizeable award against the liquor establishment who served a patron to the point of intoxication which the jury found led directly to a bar fight during which the victim suffered a heart attack and died.
Mr. Blamer, with Cummings, McClorey, Davis, & Acho, P.L.C., has represented hundreds of victims over the years in these types and other similar cases with injuries ranging from death to severe brain damage, to orthopedic injuries requiring multiple surgeries to severe scarring just to name a few with tremendous success. His drive to educate himself so he can effectively cross-examine the experts hired by his opponents is a key element to his success whether it is learning to fly so he can effectively take on the FAA in a plane crash, or employ his skills as an experienced scuba diver in products liability actions against dive equipment manufacturers for their defective equipment. His clients truly appreciate his understanding, communication and skills in dealing with their particular injuries and loss.
